About Jayson.

Jayson Albano is an award-winning journalist based in Hong Kong.

He is a supervising producer for the South China Morning Post’s award-winning video team, covering breaking APAC news. He also hosts and produces vertical content for the Post’s social media channels, as well as original features around the region.

In 2019, he co-directed, edited and produced the short documentary Addicted Innocence, a film about homeless juvenile drug addicts in New Delhi and the lack of funding to aid their rehabilitation. It won the Best Short Doc award at the Chicago South Asian Film Festival.

His film Rainbow’s End, which follows Manila-based elderly drag queen troupe Golden Gays, was published through the SCMP in 2024. It won Gold at the 2025 W3 Awards.

He received his Master of Journalism as well as his Bachelor of Arts (Comparative Literature) from the University of Hong Kong.

He has appeared in other media like Reuters, Vice News, Time Out Hong Kong and TRT World.
